Strawberry and Elderflower Fizz
Strawberry and Elderflower Fizz
The technical term for this is…… A belter! Fraiser married with St Germain elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and ginger ale.
Ingredients
- 1 part Fraiser
- 1 part St Germain Elderflower liqueur
- Lemons (enough to make around 30ml lemon juice and one for garnish)
- 3-4 strawberries (1 for garnish)
- 1 spoon Caster sugar
- Ginger Ale (enough to top drink so between 25 and 50ml depending on glass size)
- Cubed ice
If the glass you are using is around 12oz then 30ml of each ingredient is a good-sized ratio.
You can also make this recipe with Elderflower cordial by replacing the St Germain with Elderflower cordial and removing the sugar)
Equipment
- Cocktail shaker
- Hawthorn strainer
- Fine strainer
- Bar spoon
- Muddler (the flat end of the bar spoon or a rolling pin will also work)
- Citrus press or citrus juicer
- Fraiser whisky glass (you can also use a wine glass, goblet or large old-fashioned glass as long as the glass is around 12oz).
Method
1. Juice your lemons. Remember to leave one for garnish. Fresh lemon juice is always best DO NOT use concentrated lemon juice.
2. Add lemon juice and Caster sugar to shaker. Stir to dissolve sugar.
3. Add strawberries (remember to leave one for garnish).
4. Muddle strawberries, lemon and sugar (with either the flat end of the bar spoon or the muddler; a rolling pin would also work)
5. Add Fraiser and St Germain to shaker.
6. Add ice to shaker and shake hard. If the ice is dense enough then the tin should frost but 8 seconds is a good rule of thumb.
7. Fine strain into your choice of glass containing fresh cubed ice.
8. Top with ginger ale.
9. Garnish with strawberry and lemon wheel.
10. Be sherbety.
